Bunchu Chantrabut

Moh Bunchu was born on 6th April 1937 at Maekanin village, Hang Dong district, Chiang Mai Province. Moh Bunchu was born in a poor family, his father dying when was just four years old. Moh Bunchu was asked by the abbot of Erantawan temple to be raised in the temple. There, Moh Bunchu attended Maekanin school until the end of Prathom 4 in 1950 (grade 4, he was about 13 yrs old). After that he became a novice for 7 years and then became a monk. When he was in the temple, he began to study Lanna writing language from the abbot. After he knew how to read and write Lanna, he studied hard by himself in many ancient Lanna textbooks which were Jataka; stories of the former incarnations of the Lord Buddha and other literature, especially Lanna Traditional medicine textbooks. This formed his early knowledge of Lanna traditional medicine herbal formulas, holistic Lanna healthcare, Khaataa(Mantra) using in ceremonies and rituals.

Today, Moh Bunchu owns Hangdong Thai Massage school and teaches students these ancient methods through personal instruction, workshops and conferences. He continues to practice Lanna Thai Medicine and Traditional Thai Medicine to this day.
